Bibliotheken und ihr Beitrag zum Aufbau von Forschungsinfrastrukturen

Abstract

This essay looks at the role of libraries and archives in both the establishment and development of digital research infrastructures across the humanities. A library hosting electronic journals published by a university requires considerable resourcing and such indirect funding is hardly sustainable. Moreover, in view of the cooperation between the Zentralbibliothek Zürich (Zurich Central Library) and the Johann Caspar Lavater Historisch-kritische Edition ausgewählter Briefwechsel, it is now a matter of urgency to critically examine the sources of funding for digital research projects.
